This document is on the field visit during the 1st week of the learning from the field module led by Sarika Samdani, our visiting faculty for the module in the Ahmedabad old city. I learned the importance of going to the actual spot, studying the area throughout, and getting an in-person experience of the place through all the six senses. Going to the site to explore different areas repeatedly helped me notice the place’s similarities and nuances and find similarities in the architectural elements in the Pols(‘pally’ or society in Gujrati) and the Ols (markets).
